Mines on Rookie

What is Mines?

Mines is a strategic tile-revealing game inspired by the classic Minesweeper. You're presented with a 5x5 grid of hidden tiles — some contain gems and others hide mines. Each gem you reveal increases your multiplier, but hit a mine and your round is over. The fewer gems on the board (more mines), the higher each reveal pays.

It's a game of calculated risk: do you cash out with a safe profit, or push your luck for that massive multiplier? On Rookie, every Mines game is provably fair, so the mine placements are locked in before you click a single tile.

How to Play Mines

Mines is intuitive but deeply strategic:

  • Set your bet — choose your wager amount.
  • Choose the number of mines — anywhere from 1 to 24 mines on the 5x5 grid. More mines means higher multipliers per reveal but more danger.
  • Click tiles to reveal them — each safe tile (gem) increases your running multiplier.
  • Cash out anytime — lock in your current multiplier whenever you feel the risk is getting too high.
  • Hit a mine and lose — if you reveal a mine, the round ends and you lose your bet.

With 1 mine on the board, each reveal is relatively safe but pays modestly. With 20+ mines, even a single successful reveal can double or triple your bet.

Mines Game Features

  • Adjustable mine count — fine-tune the risk-reward ratio from conservative (1 mine) to extreme (24 mines).
  • Running multiplier display — always know exactly what your payout would be if you cash out now.
  • Instant cash out — secure your winnings at any point during the round.
  • Post-round reveal — after each round, the full board is revealed so you can see where every mine was hidden.
  • XP-gated mods — at Level 7, unlock the Defuse Kit for a chance to survive hitting a mine once per round.

Provably Fair Mines

Mine placements are generated using Rookie's provably fair system before you start clicking. A server seed, your client seed, and a nonce combine via HMAC-SHA256 to determine exactly which tiles contain mines. You can verify this after rotating your seed pair — the mine positions were set in stone before you made a single choice.

Level Up for Better Mines

Rookie rewards loyal players with real gameplay advantages. The Defuse Kit mod, unlocked at Level 7, gives you a chance to survive hitting a mine — instead of losing immediately, the mine is defused and you can continue revealing tiles. It's a second chance that no other platform offers, and it gets better the more you play.
